Performance. Mindset. Execution.
Coaching by Ryan McEathron
This is for serious poker players who want to take a more deliberate approach to their careers. Whether you're looking for greater direction, more consistency, or a better way to manage the demands of professional poker, the goal is to help you identify what's holding you back and figure out how to move forward.
$250 / 60 minute session
I personally review every application. If I feel we're a good fit, I'll follow up with a questionnaire to help me better understand your circumstances, goals, and the challenges you're currently facing before we schedule a session.
If I feel someone else in the industry would be better equipped to help you, I'll refer you to them. While I can help players work through poker-related life challenges, I do not provide psychotherapy. If deeper emotional or psychological issues are central to what you're dealing with, I'll recommend working with someone who has the appropriate professional background.
The "Piker Therapy" name is a parody. The guidance itself is serious.

Expectations
Performance coaching isn't about being handed a list of instructions or having someone make your decisions for you. A key component is the implementation and execution of our outlined strategy.
The objective is to help you develop a clearer understanding of your circumstances, recognize what's holding you back, and make better decisions about how to move forward.
That requires honesty, openness to examining your own approach. A willingness to take action outside of our sessions. I'll give you my perspective, challenge your assumptions when necessary, and help you develop a practical plan. But ultimately, you're responsible for putting that plan into action.
This works best when you're prepared to take ownership of your development rather than looking for someone to simply tell you what to do.
FAQ
Do I need to be a professional poker player?
No. You don't need to be playing full-time or have a specific career goal. This coaching is for serious players who want to improve their current situation and take a more deliberate approach to their development. That might mean preparing to go pro, transitioning from part-time to full-time, or improving your approach as an established professional.
So is this mindset coaching?
You could call it that. Mindset is certainly part of what we might work on. But the emphasis is on identifying the problems affecting your performance and developing actionable plans to address them. The goal isn't just to understand what's going wrong, but to do something about it. That's why I prefer to call it performance coaching.
What happens after I submit an application?
I personally review each application to determine whether we're likely to be a good fit. If I think I can help, I'll follow up with a questionnaire to learn more about your circumstances, goals, and the challenges you're facing. From there, we'll arrange a session.
Are you a psychotherapist or counselor?
No. I'm a professional poker coach. While we can discuss mindset, self-limiting beliefs, and poker-related life challenges, I don't provide psychotherapy or clinical mental health treatment. If those are central to what you're dealing with, I'll recommend seeking help from an appropriately qualified professional.
What happens during a coaching session?
Sessions are tailored to your circumstances, goals, and the challenges you're looking to address. We might work on career direction, professional decision-making, consistency, structure, mindset, or anything else relevant to your development. The questionnaire helps me understand where to focus before we meet.
I have further questions, how can I get in touch with you?
If you have any questions, feel free to include them under “Anything else you'd like me to know?” in the application below.
